The Southern California Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) honored Lundgren Management with a Project Achievement Award on May 15, 2019 at the Chapter’s 27th Annual Awards Gala.
This award was given for the company’s excellent work on the Santa Barbara City College West Campus Center, which was completed in January of 2018. The project was delivered on budget, utilizing the CM Multiple-Prime delivery method.
CMAA’s Project Achievement Award candidates are judged on specific criteria, which contribute to the project’s overall score. Construction management innovations and contributions hold 30 percent scoring weight, quality of management holds 40 percent, and project outcomes hold 30 percent.
In addition to the Project Achievement Award, the U.S. Green Business Council recognized the Santa Barbara City College West Campus Center with the LEED Platinum certification. This became the second award given to a project designed by architect Kruger Bensen Ziemer Architects Inc. (KBZ) and managed by Lundgren Management.
“What we were able to accomplish in collaboration with our project partners and the Santa Barbara Community College is something to be proud of,” said Shawn Fonder, Lundgren’s Vice President of Program and Client Services. “We are honored to be a part of the district’s effort to provide its growing student population with new and renovated facilities. We would like to thank CMAA Southern California for this wonderful honor.”
Construction of the new Center provides a 33,610 square foot, multi-story facility, housing 23 traditional and studio style classrooms, 15 faculty offices, conference and break rooms, and more.
In the end, Fonder attributed team effort to the completion and quality of the project.
“The entire stakeholder team worked collectively through open lines of communication early on and maintained communication through completion,” said Fonder. “The end result is a state-of-the-art facility that students and others in the greater Santa Barbara Community can be proud of.”
