Ventura County Credit Union (VCCU) has partnered with the Museum of the Ventura County — a nonprofit organization that focuses on the art, history and culture of Ventura County — to display historical pieces at the Moorpark, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks branches which opened this week on March 5, 2018.
On display through September, the exhibit was established to educate the community on the history of the county and create awareness about the museum. The displays at each branch will be specific to the city it is displayed in.
Visitors of the branches will have a chance to make a tax deductible donation to the museum through The Foundation of VCCU, which provides financial assistance and education to VCCU’s local community partners with an emphasis on the underserved, the beautification and/or preservation of the environment, and the health and well-being of the region. Any member or guest who makes a donation of any amount will receive free tickets to visit either of the museum’s two locations in downtown Ventura or Santa Paula. VCCU will also match up to $5,000 in donations.
“We are honored to partner with the museum,” said Natalie Yanez, VCCU’s director of community development. “The history of our county is important, and the branch exhibits will provide the opportunity to educate visitors on the history of our area. We’re thrilled to be able to offer a place to showcase these important artifacts and help raise awareness about the museum.”
The Museum of Ventura County’s collections, exhibits and educational programs are designed to inspire curiosity and conversations about the region’s past and what makes the Ventura County community unique.
VCCU offers a full scope of financial services, including checking and savings accounts, credit and debit cards, loans, a nationwide ATM network, and beyond. Membership is open to all who live, work or attend school in Ventura County or Santa Barbara County.
