Investing in mental health is the most important investment we can make right now; it will renew our capacity to invest in people (or the lives of people), here in Ventura County. Turning Point Foundation was established in 1988 and is governed by a board of directors drawn from the Ventura County community. Turning Point is the only non-profit agency in Ventura county that addresses the critical community support needs of mentally ill adults. Turning Point Foundation is serving more than 1000 clients each year through its shelter, supported housing and rehabilitation programs and plan to double that in the years to come.
Poverty, drugs, violence, climate change, forced migration and infectious disease are claiming countless lives, and the ones who witness and survive, their mental health. The World Health Organization has projected that depression will be the No. 2 cause of disability by 2020.
